SNAP-8

also known as: Acetyl Octapeptide-3, Acetyl glutamyl heptapeptide-1

An octapeptide cosmetic ingredient extending the Argireline concept — same SNAP-25 competitive mechanism with two additional residues and claims of enhanced activity.

An elongated version of Argireline (acetyl octapeptide-3) marketed by Lipotec as a second-generation SNAP-25 mimic for topical expression-line reduction.

Mechanism of action

Same mechanism as Argireline — competes with SNAP-25 at the SNARE complex, reducing acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. Manufacturer studies claim enhanced potency vs Argireline at equivalent concentrations, but independent replication is limited.

Primary uses

  • Topical anti-aging cosmetic formulations

Typical dosing

5–10 % (topical formulation) daily topical application (topical)

Cosmetic concentrations.

Regulatory status

Cosmetic ingredient; not a drug.
