ADA 2026 Preview: The Incretin Readouts to Watch in New Orleans

The American Diabetes Association's 86th Scientific Sessions run June 5–8, 2026, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans — the largest annual diabetes meeting, drawing more than 12,000 attendees. This year's program is dominated by incretin therapies: full datasets behind several topline readouts released over the spring are scheduled to be presented in detail, alongside updated standards of care.
The headline presentations
Retatrutide (TRIUMPH-1 and TRANSCEND-T2D-1). Eli Lilly's GIP/GLP-1/glucagon triple agonist gets its first full Phase 3 obesity data after a May 21 topline that reported up to 28.3% mean weight loss at 80 weeks. The diabetes companion study (TRANSCEND-T2D-1) reported A1C reductions up to 2.0% and weight loss up to 16.8%. Detailed safety and body-composition data are what the field is waiting to see.
CagriSema (REIMAGINE program). Novo Nordisk's cagrilintide-plus-semaglutide combination — an amylin analogue paired with a GLP-1 — is set to present first data across monotherapy, component-comparison, and basal-insulin add-on designs in type 2 diabetes. The CagriSema NDA for obesity was filed in December 2025, with an FDA decision expected around October 2026.
Survodutide (SYNCHRONIZE-1). Boehringer Ingelheim and Zealand Pharma will present the full obesity dataset behind an April topline of 16.6% mean weight loss at 76 weeks for their glucagon/GLP-1 dual agonist, including the waist-circumference and body-composition detail the topline left out.
Oral orforglipron (ACHIEVE program). Now approved for obesity as Foundayo, Lilly's non-peptide oral GLP-1 has a dedicated symposium covering three Phase 3 diabetes studies, including a head-to-head against oral semaglutide.
Beyond the big four
Survodutide isn't the only dual agonist on the agenda — the program also features earlier-stage oral candidates and amylin-based agents, reflecting how crowded the incretin space has become. Several presentations move past efficacy toward the questions that increasingly define the field: real-world persistence (adherence drops sharply over the first year), affordability, and whether benefits extend to cardiovascular, renal, and liver endpoints rather than weight alone.
Why it matters for this site
Conference data is where topline press releases turn into something you can actually evaluate — full safety tables, dropout rates, subgroup analyses, and peer-reviewed publication shortly after. We'll update the relevant encyclopedia entries as the detailed datasets land. For now, the takeaway is that nearly every compound driving the current weight-loss conversation has a presentation in New Orleans this week.
