🌐 Status: a diagnostic abroad, not an FDA-approved therapy

GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) is approved in Japan as a diagnostic agent for growth-hormone secretion testing — but it is not FDA-approved for therapeutic use, and the community use as a GH-boosting peptide is investigational. The figures below reflect community practice, documented for education, not instructions for use.

The short version

GHRP-2 is a growth-hormone-releasing peptide — a ghrelin-receptor agonist that triggers a GH pulse. It sits in the same family as ipamorelin and GHRP-6, and its only formal approval anywhere is as a diagnostic (pralmorelin, in Japan) used to test the pituitary's ability to release growth hormone. That diagnostic approval is sometimes misread as a therapeutic green light; it is not.

What community protocols report

ParameterCommonly reported
Amount~100–300 mcg per dose
Frequency1–3× daily
TimingPre-bed and/or post-workout
RouteSubcutaneous

As with the other GH secretagogues, the timing tracks the body's own GH rhythm, and GHRP-2 is frequently combined with a GHRH analog like CJC-1295 on the complementary-mechanism theory. These conventions come from community use, not approval-grade therapeutic trials.

🔎 GHRP-2 vs ipamorelin vs GHRP-6

GHRP-2 is more potent at releasing GH than ipamorelin, but it also raises cortisol, prolactin, and appetite more. Ipamorelin is the "clean," selective option with little of that off-target effect. GHRP-6 is the strongest appetite stimulant of the three. The trade-off is potency versus selectivity — which is the main reason people choose one over another. See the ipamorelin and GHRP-6 dosage pages.

Reconstitution basics

GHRP-2 is supplied as a lyophilized powder requiring reconstitution with bacteriostatic water before microgram doses can be measured. The Reconstitution Calculator converts vial strength and diluent volume into an exact draw; it cannot verify the contents of an unregulated vial.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Japanese diagnostic approval make it safe to use as a therapy?

No. A diagnostic approval covers a single, controlled test dose for assessment — it is not the same as approval for repeated therapeutic use, and it does not apply in the US.

Why combine it with CJC-1295?

The GHRH analog raises the baseline GH drive while GHRP-2 triggers a pulse; the pairing is a community convention, not a validated combination.

Will it stimulate appetite?

Yes, more than ipamorelin — appetite stimulation is one of the off-target effects that distinguishes the older GHRPs from the selective ones.
